VPS35 is a Vacuolar Protein Sorting protein that is a component of a large multimeric complex, termed the retromer complex, involved in retrograde transport of proteins from endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. Inherited mutations in VPS35 are linked with neurodegeneration and Parkinson's disease, likely through mitochondrial dysfunction resulting from increased interaction of mutant VPS35 with DLP1. In immunohistochemistry, VPS35 has moderate to high cytoplasmic positivity in all tissues throughout the body.
