VPS35 is a Vacuolar Protein Sorting protein that is a component of a large multimeric complex, termed the retromer complex, involved in retrograde transport of proteins from endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. Inherited mutations in VPS35 are linked with neurodegeneration and Parkinson's disease, likely through mitochondrial dysfunction resulting from increased interaction of mutant VPS35 with DLP1.
