It plays a role in various cell functions, including apoptosis, immunity, angiogenesis, macrophage activation, cell adhesion, and T-cell regulation. It is expressed in the cytoplasm, the nucleus, on the cell surface and the extracellular space. It is expressed in a wide variety of cell types including fibroblasts, epithelial cells in many organs, and immune cells.
