Description
CD74 (also called HLA class II histocompatibility antigen gamma chain), and its associated fragment class-II-associated invariant chain peptide (CLIP), is a receptor for the cytokine macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF). It is involved in MHC class II antigen processing and several key processes of the immune system. CD74 is localized to the cell surface as well as the endoplasmic reticulum and intracellular vesicles of immune cells and macrophages. CD74 is broadly expressed in normal tissues and in a variety of cancers. Antibodies to CD74 can be used to identify B cells in normal and cancer tissues.
