glutamate dehydrogenase 1
GLUD1/Glutamate Dehydrogenase is glutamate dehydrogenase protein; a mitochondrial matrix enzyme that catalyzes the oxidative deamination of glutamate to alpha-ketoglutarate and ammonia. This enzyme has an important role in regulating amino acid induced insulin secretion and activating mutations in this gene are a common cause of congenital hyperinsulinism. This enzyme is allosterically activated by ADP and inhibited by GTP and ATP. The related glutamate dehydrogenase 2 gene on the human X-chromosome originated from this gene via retrotransposition and encodes a soluble form of glutamate dehydrogenase. Multiple pseudogenes of this gene are present in humans.

![GLUD1/Glutamate Dehydrogenase Antibody - Anti-Bovine Glutamate Dehydrogenase Antibody - Western Blot. Western blot analysis is shown using anti-bovine glutamate dehydrogenase antibody to detect the enzyme from bovine liver preparations. Comparison to a molecular weight marker indicates a predominant band of ~62 kD. The higher molecular weight band may represent a subunit dimer. A 4-20% gradient gel was used to separate proteins prior to transfer to 0.2 micron nitrocellulose. The blot was incubated with a 1:1000 dilution of the antibody for 2 h at room temperature followed by detection using IRDye800 labeled Goat-a-Rabbit IgG [H&L] ( diluted 1:5000 for 45 min at room temperature. IRDye800 fluorescence image was captured using the Odyssey Infrared Imaging System developed by LI-COR. IRDye is a trademark of LI-COR, Inc.
