PTPD2, a NT6 non-receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase, contains a N-terminal domain that is similar to cytoskeletal-associated proteins of the band 4.1-ezrin-radixin-moesin family, an acidic region, a putative SH3 domain-binding sequence, and a single PTP domain at the C terminus. It has been shown to affect cell adhesion, growth, proliferation and migration, and to associate with cytoskeletons. PTPD2 has been found to be cytoplasmic in confluent monolayers of vascular endothelial cells and nuclear in cells cultured at low density, suggesting that it is a nuclear protein in proliferating cells. At least four isoforms, PTP36-A to D, have been identified in mouse.
