OX2R, an Orexin Receptor, recognizes both hypothalamic neuropeptides orexin-A and orexin-B. This receptor is involved in the central feedback mechanism that regulates sleeping, feeding, and drinking behaviors. Activation of OX2R stimulates food consumption. Mutations of OX2R lead to narcolepsy in dogs and mice.
