MYO3B is classified as a NinaC Serine/Threonine Kinase because it contains an N-terminal kinase domain and three consensus calmodulin-binding (IQ) motifs. In addition to kinase activity, Class III myosins are actin-based hybrid motor-signaling molecules. Several alternative splice variants have been observed, containing either one or two calmodulin binding (IQ) motifs in the neck domain and one of three tail variations.
