GCKR, also known as KHS for kinase homologous to SPS1/Ste20, is a KHS protein kinase. GCKR is an upstream activator of the stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK) signaling pathway, and its activity has been shown to increase in response to tumor necrosis factor (TNF), TNF receptor-associated factor 2 (TRAF2) and UV light. In primary B cells, GCKR has been shown to be activated by CD40. GCKR is a downstream target of the chronic myeloid leukemia-related Bcr-Abl fusion gene, and it has been implicated as a mediator of Bcr-Abl in its transformation of cells.
