GYG1 / Glycogenin

glycogenin 1

GYG1 / Glycogenin is a member of the glycogenin family. Glycogenin is a glycosyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of a short glucose polymer from uridine diphosphate glucose in an autoglucosylation reaction. This reaction is followed by elongation and branching of the polymer, catalyzed by glycogen synthase and branching enzyme, to form glycogen. This gene is expressed in muscle and other tissues. Mutations in this gene result in glycogen storage disease XV. This gene has pseudogenes on chromosomes 1, 8 and 13 respectively. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.

Gene Name: glycogenin 1
Synonyms: GYG1, Glycogenin, GSD15, GYG, Glycogenin 1, Glycogenin-1, GN-1, GN1
Target Sequences: NM_004130 NP_004121.2 P46976

GYG1 / Glycogenin Antibody - Western blot analysis of extracts of various cell lines, using GYG1 antibody at 1:1000 dilution. The secondary antibody used was an HRP Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) at 1:10000 dilution. Lysates were loaded 25ug per lane and 3% nonfat dry milk in TBST was used for blocking. An ECL Kit was used for detection and the exposure time was 5s.
