GLO1 / Glyoxalase I

glyoxalase I

Catalyzes the conversion of hemimercaptal, formed from methylglyoxal and glutathione, to S-lactoylglutathione. Involved in the regulation of TNF-induced transcriptional activity of NF-kappa-B. Required for normal osteoclastogenesis.

Gene Name: glyoxalase I
Synonyms: GLO1, Aldoketomutase, Glx I, Glyoxalase domain containing 1, Glyoxalase I, Lactoyl glutathione lyase, Lactoylglutathione lyase, GLOD1, Methylglyoxalase, Ketone-aldehyde mutase, GLYI
Target Sequences: NM_006708 NP_006699.2 Q04760
