Ctf2 / Cardiotrophin 2

Cardiotrophin 2

Ctf2 / Cardiotrophin 2 is also know as Neuropoietin. The mouse Ctf2 gene is localized in tandem with the Ctf1 gene on chromosome 7. Neuropoietin is structurally and functionally related with CNTF, cardiotrophin-1, and cardiotrophin-like cytokine. High expression of Neuropoietin is observed in embryonic neuroepithelial cells. Expression is seen also in the retina and, to a lesser extent, in skeletal muscle. In vitro, Neuropoietin is a survival factor for embryonic motor neurons. It is mitogenic for neural precursor cells in the presence of EGF and bFGF.

Gene Name: Cardiotrophin 2
Synonyms: Ctf2, Neuropoietin
Target Sequences: Q0VB69
