GPRC5C is a member of the type 3 G protein-coupled receptor family that is induced by retinoic acid and mediates its interaction with the G protein signal transduction cascade. In the kidney, GPRC5C is involved in systemic pH homeostasis via regulation of NHE3. In immunohistochemistry, GPRC5C has membranous and cytoplasmic positivity in gastrointestinal tissues, the fallopian tube, renal tubules, the brain, endocrine tissues, the liver, pancreas, skeletal muscle, skin and some immune tissues.
