G protein-coupled receptor 4 (GPR4) is a Lysophospholipid/Lysosphingolipid receptor. GPR4 acts as a proton-sensing receptor stimulating inositol phosphate formation (Ludwig et al. 2003). In immunohistochemsitry, GPR4 has membranous and cytoplasmic positivity in most tissues including smooth muscle and throughout the nervous system.
