LY75 (CD205, DEC-205) is an integral membrane protein expressed on dendritic cells that functions as an antigen-uptake receptor and in the initiation of the immune response. LY75 also plays a role in regulating weight and in obesity resistance. In immunohistochemistry, LY75 has membranous positivity on dendritic cells in immune tissues, peripheral blood lymphocytes, and is found in gastrointestinal tissue, the thyroid, lung, bladder, reproductive tissues, pancreas, liver and gallbladder. LY75 is also a useful biomarker for some cancers, as isoforms 2 and 3 of LY75 are found on Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells of malignant Hodgkin lymphoma, and the protein has also been detected in myeloid and B-lymphoid cell lines.
