CRHR2 (Corticotropin-releasing hormone receptor 2) is a protein of the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family that binds corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and CRH-related peptides such as urocortin. The beta isoform of CRHR2 is expressed in the brain, while the alpha isoform is found in peripheral tissues. CRHR2 is thought to be involved in regulating changes to motivational states and craving in individuals undergoing drug withdrawal. CRHR2 participates in regulation of the stress response, and is involved in anxiety and mood-based disorders as well as post-traumatic stress disorder. In immunohistochemistry, CRHR2 has membranous and cytoplasmic positivity in the brain, thyroid, testes, and fallopian tube, with limited positivity in a few other tissues.
