CFL1 (Cofilin 1) is an actin-modulating protein of the ADF/cofilin family that regulates actin cytoskeleton dynamics and plays an important role in mitotic progression, cytokinesis, the regulation of cell morphology, and neurogenesis. In the brain, CFL1 is phosphorylated through reelin signaling and may be involved in regulating neuronal migration. Dysregulation of CFL1 is implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative and neurological disorders including Alzheimer’s disease. In immunohistochemistry, CFL1 has cytoplasmic and membranous positivity in most tissues throughout the body.
